Internships
Job Search Tip 💡
Still searching for a summer internship?
Internships are a fantastic way to gain real-world experience, build your professional network, and enhance your resume.
As you continue your internship search, remember that the soft skills you learn are just as important as the hard skills. While you may not find the perfect internship, like one in your field or major, be open to opportunities where you can learn and develop skills like:
Working with people (teammates) who are different, or even difficult
Communicating, presenting, and even selling your thoughts and ideas
Learning different management styles and what to do, and not do, when it’s your turn to be a team leader
Here are 10 tips for landing and succeeding in internships.
1. Start Early and Be Proactive
Many companies start recruiting interns months before the internship period begins, start your search early. If you’re still trying to find one, there’s still hope! Use job boards, company websites, and networking events to find opportunities. Like any role, there will candidates who reject offers, so opportunities may open up.
2. Tailor Your Resume and Cover Letter
Customize your resume and cover letter for each application. Highlight relevant skills, experiences, and coursework. Make sure to showcase your enthusiasm for the role and the company.
3. Leverage Your Network
Reach out to professors, career advisors, and professionals in your field. Networking can open doors to opportunities that might not be advertised publicly.
4. Prepare for Interviews
Research the company and the role thoroughly. Practice common interview questions and prepare thoughtful questions to ask the interviewer. Show your eagerness to learn and contribute.
5. Demonstrate Soft Skills
Employers value soft skills like communication, teamwork, and adaptability. Highlight these skills during your application process and demonstrate them during your internship.
6. Set Clear Goals
Once you land the internship, set clear goals for what you want to achieve. Discuss these goals with your supervisor to ensure alignment and to get their support.
7. Be Professional and Punctual
Treat your internship like a real job. Be punctual, dress appropriately, and maintain a professional attitude. Your behavior can leave a lasting impression and potentially lead to future job offers.
8. Seek Feedback and Learn
Regularly ask for feedback on your performance. Use this feedback to improve and grow. Be open to learning new skills and taking on challenges.
9. Network (We know it can be scary…)
We can’t stress this enough. Build relationships. Attend events and engage in conversations. Networking can lead to valuable connections and future opportunities. Many jobs are obtained through roles that are coming soon and not yet publicized or can be created based on available budgets by hiring managers. Don’t be afraid to bring it up in a conversation.
10. Reflect and Document Your Experience
At the end of your internship, reflect on what you’ve learned and how you’ve grown. Document your achievements and experiences to update your resume and LinkedIn profile.
By following these tips, you can maximize your internship experience and set yourself up for future career success. We’re rooting and praying for you! 🚀

God Alone - Part 2 of 5

"The Unblinking Eye"
Have you ever done a staring contest with a friend to see who blinks first? It’s hard to keep our eyes open. But did you know that God’s eyes never blink? There’s not a split second when He doesn’t see our lives.
In the Hebrew world, the eye symbolized constant vigilance, care, and protection. Psalm 121 reminds us that God never slumbers; His eye is always on us. Jesus assures us, too, that He’s with us “always, to the very end of the age.”
So, despite how you may feel, God is never blind to our human experience.
I wonder if that’s how surfer Bethany Hamilton felt when she was attacked by a shark at the age of 13. She lost an arm and, by all accounts, should have died. Miraculously, she survived and, amazingly, returned to surfing just months later.
Hamilton credits God for giving her strength and resilience through the trial. Her journey reflects how God sees us fully, guarding and guiding us through life’s most harrowing moments, keeping His eyes on us with unceasing love.
God watched over her, and God watches over you.
Picture God’s unblinking gaze upon you, His eye keeping track of every path, every hardship. You’re not unseen; you are deeply known and profoundly protected. Rest in His vigilant gaze today—the God who sees you, keeps you safe, and never looks away.
God’s watchful eye is always upon you, guarding each step.
When you reach the end of your strength and ability, remember that God alone is the difference maker in your life.
