Volunteering

Job Search Tip 💡

Feeling burned out?

Maybe switching it up can help.

Consider volunteering.

Volunteering can bring joy, career opportunities, and a change of pace.

Volunteering and serving others can impact your life and career. Serving others is what we are called to do, to be the hands and feet of Christ without expecting rewards. By creating opportunities for others, we gain joy, purpose, and fulfillment, and sometimes new opportunities in our lives. Volunteering and serving, when approached with a pure heart and intentions, can help our career growth and job search.

Giving back - whether it’s your time, talents, or treasure - not only benefits the community but also provides personal rewards such as increased happiness, career growth, and fulfillment. It can help alleviate burnout, stress, and mental health issues. Despite busy schedules, it's possible to make time for volunteering, which can even make you feel like you have more time.

Volunteering can positively impact your salary and career. Studies show that volunteers often experience salary increases, better employment, and higher wages. This is likely due to networking opportunities and the skills gained through volunteering. In fact, 19% of people volunteer specifically to build their skills.

The Shield You Cannot See

Weekly Devotional 🙏🏼

God Alone - Part 1 of 5

Source: Benjamin Windle

"The Shield You Cannot See"

Have you ever stopped to wonder just how much calamity and devastation God has shielded you from? Imagine for a moment if you could see a list—a divine record—of every danger He’s kept at bay. Car accidents that never happened, wrong paths you never walked, harmful people who never crossed your life, or unseen threats that could have unraveled everything.

We’ve all dodged countless bullets without even realizing it.

On July 14, 2024, President Donald Trump miraculously survived an assassination attempt. A split-second turn of his head. A moment in time. Literally fractions of an inch.

While recovering from the gunshot wound to his ear, he reflected on the experience, saying, “It was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.”

Talk about dodging a bullet!

Before you even wonder if this devotional is political—it is not. In fact, I share stories from a range of diverse people in the other readings. But hearing a man who nearly died attribute his survival to God alone stirred my heart.

God alone. We aren’t paddling upstream in a lone canoe, struggling against the current. God is with us. Some moments defy explanation, unmistakably pointing to divine intervention.

There is more to the human experience than the might of our own arms and the breath in our own lungs.

Today’s symbol is ‘The Shield You Cannot See.’ The shield is a timeless image of defense and safety. It reminds us of God’s unseen protection. Exodus tells us, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

In Thessalonians, Paul says that God guards us from the evil one. There are battles we don’t see. There are dangers hidden from view. But God’s shield stands in the way.

Right now, imagine His shield around you, deflecting threats and securing your path. Today, let this truth settle in: you’re surrounded by an invisible defense, a protection God holds firmly in place.

This devotional series invites you to experience His constant presence, strength, and care. Each day reveals a powerful symbol of God’s protection and sovereignty, no matter how deep the waters or dark the night.
